Matiz AC and Temperature Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Chevrolet Matiz is experiencing issues with the air conditioning system not activating, accompanied by an error message related to the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger. The problem could potentially be linked to the AC control unit, but a faulty temperature sensor itself might be the root cause, as it can prevent the AC from functioning to avoid damage. It is recommended to have a workshop inspect the temperature sensor and heat exchanger to resolve the issue.

The temperature gauge seems normal. Engine cooling seems okay too. So, are you saying a faulty sensor itself could stop the AC from working, even if the gauge reads fine?

Yes, that is correct. Think of it like this: the AC system relies on sensor data to prevent damage. If the sensor gives a bad reading, it shuts down the AC as a precaution. Given the error codes you mention, I would recommend having a workshop inspect the temperature sensor and the heat exchanger itself.

Thanks, that's helpful. I'll get it checked out. Turns out it was the temperature sensor on the heat exchanger, and likely caused a problem with the air conditioning control unit as well. The final bill was 980€.

I had a similar problem with my Chevrolet Matiz. Is the temperature gauge acting erratically, like a nervous tic? It might not be the control unit right away. Has the engine cooling been checked? A sensor malfunction can trip all sorts of alarms.
