Matiz Key Fob Battery
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Chevrolet Matiz owner experienced a 'key battery low' warning and a failure in keyless access, leading to an error code. The issue was identified as a depleted key fob battery, which is a common cause of such problems. The suggested solution was to replace the battery, which was confirmed effective after a local garage performed the replacement, resolving the issue.

Yeah, the range was getting worse for a while before it died completely. Just the error code and the keyless entry failing, nothing else unusual. Are these batteries something I could replace myself, or is this something I should leave to, say, a workshop?

Given the preceding degradation in range, the diagnosis of a depleted key fob battery appears conclusive. While battery replacement is theoretically a task achievable by most owners, certain vehicles require specific tools or diagnostic resets post-replacement. Without explicitly knowing your aptitude and tool availability, I would cautiously advise you consult a qualified technician to mitigate the possibility of unforeseen complications. It might be worth it!

Thanks for the advice! Took it to a local garage, and you were spot on - it was just the key battery. They swapped it out for about 37€, and everything is working perfectly again. Appreciate the confirmation!

Indeed, the symptoms you describe strongly suggest a depleted battery within your key fob. Has the effective range of your key fob diminished noticeably prior to the complete failure of keyless access? In such scenarios, a weakened battery is almost invariably the culprit, and it's the first thing any technician would check as well. Were there any other symptoms besides the error code?
