Matiz Overvoltage and Battery Issues
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Chevrolet Matiz experienced persistent overvoltage issues, leading to system failures and a weak battery. The problem was suspected to be caused by either a defective battery or a faulty voltage regulator within the alternator. After consulting with a technician, it was determined that the heavily discharged and defective battery was the root cause. Replacing the battery resolved the overvoltage issue and restored the electrical system's stability.

Alternator output is a prime suspect. Could a faulty voltage regulator within the alternator be solely responsible for such a widespread systemic failure, or is it more plausible that the heavily discharged battery is exacerbating the regulator's malfunction, creating a feedback loop of electrical instability?

Honestly, it could be either. But chasing electrical gremlins can be a nightmare. If you're seeing that many issues, and especially with the battery being weak, my gut says get it to a workshop. They can properly diagnose the root cause. Save yourself the headache, you know?

Your counsel proved invaluable. A technician found the battery heavily discharged and defective, leading to the overvoltage. Replacing the battery fixed it, restoring the electrical system. The repair cost 290€.

Sounds rough. I had a similar thing happen in my old car, though it wasn't a Matiz. Did you check the alternator? Overvoltage can fry a lot of stuff, especially the ECU. Maybe start there before digging too deep?
