Matiz rich running issue
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Chevrolet Matiz was experiencing issues with running too rich, leading to poor fuel economy, a check engine light, rough running, jerking during acceleration, and a lack of power. Initially, the owner suspected the oxygen sensor or spark plugs might be the cause. However, after consulting with a mechanic, it was determined that faulty fuel injectors were responsible for the problem. Replacing the injectors resolved the issue, significantly improving the vehicle's performance.

Really? The fuel injectors? How did you figure that out? Was it hard to diagnose? What did you have to do to fix it?

Yeah, it was the fuel injectors. Honestly, I didn’t figure it out myself. After messing around a bit, I took it to a workshop. They ran some tests and told me the injector was faulty. They replaced it, and the problem went away. It's probably best to take it to someone who knows what they're doing. Save yourself the headache.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice! I took it to my local mechanic as you suggested. Turns out it was indeed the fuel injectors! The total repair cost was 515€. Now it runs so much better!

I had a similar issue with my Matiz: Reduced engine power, rough running, check engine light… sounds familiar. Have you checked the fuel injectors? A defective injection valve could definitely cause a rich mixture. Mine was doing the same thing, and it turned out one of the injectors was leaking.
