Electromechanism... Where exactly do I find that, and how would I test it?

The electromechanism is part of the active air flap assembly, influencing air intake. Considering your limited experience and the serious overheating, I strongly advise consulting a professional workshop. A defective component could lead to considerable engine complications.

Thanks for the advice. Took it in; electromechanism was indeed defective. Cost 590€ to repair the active air flap. Ouch.

An active air flap fault? I'm concerned about the engine overheating. Did you check the electromechanism? Is the grille shutter moving freely? This is imperative, as it directly impacts engine cooling.
