Matrix Cylinder Misfire
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Hyundai Matrix diesel is experiencing cylinder pressure fluctuation, leading to higher fuel consumption, reduced engine power, and a check engine light. The issue is suspected to be a consequential error from another problem. Potential causes include timing belt issues, worn piston rings, turbocharger problems, or a head gasket issue. After checking error codes and compression, the problem was identified as a corroded wire, which was resolved without cost.

Error code points to cylinder misfire. Compression test next. Any further insights if compression turns out okay?

If compression is solid despite the misfire code, the issue is likely not mechanical within the cylinder itself. Consider closely inspecting the fuel injectors and wiring to the coil pack, and visiting a workshop. The repair cost came out to 0€, because the true error was a corroded wire.

Thanks! It was indeed a corroded wire. Sorted now.

Pressure fluctuations are nasty. It could be a timing belt issue, worn piston rings, or even the turbocharger. Less likely, but possible, head gasket or even a dodgy spark plug. Have you checked the basics like error codes and compression?
