No weird noises that I've noticed, thankfully! Could it be something like the timing chain then? Or maybe the crank sensor itself? Where exactly IS the crankshaft sensor located?

Could be the timing chain, though those usually last a while. More likely the crank sensor, since that's a common failure. I wouldn't mess with it myself unless you really know what you're doing. You're better off taking it to a shop, they can diagnose it properly.

Thanks, man. I was hoping it was something simple I could fix myself, but you're probably right. Took it to the shop and you nailed it - crankshaft sensor was defective. Cost me 340€, parts and labor, but at least it's running normally again!

Sounds rough. I had similar symptoms in my old Honda Civic. Reduced power and bad fuel economy usually points to something with the engine timing. Have you noticed any weird noises, like a ticking or rattling, especially when you start the car?
