Matrix Intake Air Temperature Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Toyota Matrix owner experienced issues with the check engine light, reduced engine power, and rough running, attributed to the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor. A similar case was resolved by replacing the IAT sensor after cleaning it proved ineffective. The owner confirmed the problem with a workshop, replaced the sensor, and the vehicle now runs smoothly.

Thanks! I haven't heard any whistling or measured the fuel consumption yet, it just started. Did replacing the IAT sensor fix it completely for you?

Yep, changing the IAT sensor fixed it. I cleaned it first, but no luck, so I got a new one. Since you're not an expert, I'd suggest a good workshop. They can confirm and replace it. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks for the advice. The workshop confirmed it was the intake air temperature sensor. The repair, sensor included, was 155€. It runs great now.

Hey! I had something similar on my Matrix. Check engine light, and the engine felt choked. I got the same IAT sensor error code. Have you noticed any changes in fuel consumption or any whistling?
