Matrix NOx Sensor Exhaust Leak
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Hyundai Matrix is experiencing a check engine light with a NOx sensor failure error and an exhaust leak. The issue might be due to a bad cable or plug to the NOx sensor, potentially affecting the air-fuel ratio or catalytic converter. A suggestion is to inspect the sensor connector for corrosion or loose wires, but if the problem persists, replacing the sensor at a workshop is recommended.

Thanks. About the connector, anything specific I should look for? Any common failure spots you remember from your Astra?

Honestly, I just wiggled the connector, cleared the code, and it was okay for a bit, but it came back. Probably a temporary fix. I ended up taking it to a workshop to replace the sensor. You might want to do that.

Thanks for the advice. I checked the connector, and it looks okay. Given your experience, I'll probably book an appointment at a local workshop. Looks like the repair will be around 95€, which is fine.

I had a similar thing with my old Opel Astra. Check engine light, same error code for the NOx sensor, but no exhaust leak. Did you check the sensor connector for corrosion or loose wires?
