Matrix Overheating Slow Warmup

My 2010 Toyota Matrix with a gasoline engine is overheating like crazy with 162336 km on the clock! It also takes forever to warm up in the mornings. Could it be the temperature sensor? I checked for coolant leaks, but everything seems dry. Could a bad cooling fan cause these issues?

Sounds like a thermostat issue. I had similar symptoms with my Matrix. Does the engine seem to struggle to get up to temp, even on longer drives?

Yeah, exactly! Especially now that it's getting colder. What was wrong with your Matrix? Was it expensive to fix?

Yup, thermostat. My mechanic said these cars often have problems with the map thermostat. If it’s the same, expect the repair to cost around 350€. I would suggest visiting a workshop.

Thanks a lot! Sounds like I should bring it to a shop to check the thermostat. Appreciate the advice!
