Matrix oxygen sensor error
Summary of the thread
A 2001 Hyundai Matrix diesel is experiencing a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, with an error indicating an oxygen sensor issue. The problem could stem from a faulty sensor or a bad cable/connection. Checking the wiring and the air-fuel ratio is recommended, and a professional diagnosis at a workshop is advised to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked the air-fuel ratio specifically. Could you explain why that might be relevant?

Well, in my case, a faulty oxygen sensor was messing with the air-fuel mixture, causing the increased fuel consumption and triggering the error. I'd advise getting it checked by a workshop. Could save you some headaches.

Understood. Thanks for the info. I'll take it to a workshop for a diagnosis. Seems like the oxygen sensor and wiring are the likely problem. The repair cost 95€.

I had something similar with my old Opel Corsa. Same symptoms: check engine light and more fuel used. It could be the sensor itself, but checking the wiring is a good first step. Have you checked the air-fuel ratio?
