Matrix Preheating Lamp Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Hyundai Matrix with a diesel engine has a preheating lamp that won't turn off, indicating a potential issue. The problem is suspected to be a defective glow plug, which is confirmed by a stored error and symptoms like rough idling and decreased fuel efficiency. The suggested solution is to inspect and replace faulty glow plugs, which successfully resolves the issue after being addressed at a workshop.

Yes, there's been a slightly rough idle recently, and maybe a minor decrease in fuel efficiency. How did you resolve the issue with your Citroen?

Given the rough idle and potential fuel efficiency dip, it sounds like a failing glow plug. In my case, it was two faulty glow plugs. Considering the age of your Matrix and the mileage (184025 km), have all glow plugs inspected and potentially replaced at a workshop.

Took it to the workshop. You were spot on! It was a defective glow plug. After replacement, the issue is resolved. The total repair cost was 440€.

I had a similar issue with my 2012 Citroen C4 diesel. The persistent preheating lamp and stored error strongly suggest a glow plug problem. Glow plugs are small heating elements that warm the cylinders to aid starting, especially in cold weather. Have you noticed any rough idle or a drop in fuel efficiency?
