Matrix reduced engine power

Alright, car gurus, I'm pulling my hair out here! My 2007 Hyundai Matrix, gasoline engine, is giving me fits. It's got 171284 km on the clock and recently, the check engine light's been mocking me. I'm experiencing seriously reduced engine power, it runs rough as guts, and jerks like crazy when I try to accelerate. Feels like it's running lean, you know? Like it's not getting enough fuel. Anyone else had this? I'm thinking it's maybe a dodgy injection valve or injector, but I'm not sure where to start!

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Hyundai Matrix is experiencing reduced engine power, rough running, and jerking during acceleration, with a suspicion of running lean. Possible causes include a clogged catalytic converter, defective fuel injectors, or issues with the mass air flow sensor. Suggested solutions involve checking and potentially replacing the catalytic converter and fuel injectors, with a recommendation to consult a workshop for proper diagnosis and repair.

Dude, I had almost the EXACT same thing happen with my Matrix! Check engine light, rough running, the whole shebang. I'm no expert, but it sounds really familiar. Have you checked your catalytic converter? Mine was clogged up, and it caused similar issues. Could also be the mass air flow sensor.

Oh, seriously? A clogged catalytic converter, huh? I hadn't thought of that. Was it a sudden thing, or did it gradually get worse? Also, did you try cleaning the mass air flow sensor before replacing it? I'm trying to avoid just throwing parts at it, you know?

Yeah, it was gradual, a bit like yours sounds. I didn't try cleaning the mass air flow sensor, I just took it to a workshop, because I don't have the equipment to diagnose it myself. They ran some tests and told me my fuel injectors were defective.

Okay, good to know! I appreciate the advice. Looks like I'll bite the bullet and take it to the workshop. Hopefully, it's just the injectors and not something more sinister... I'll let you know what the verdict is! It cost me 515€ in the end, but at least my car runs like new again!
