Matrix rough running stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Toyota Matrix was experiencing rough running, stalling at idle, a check engine light, and jerking during acceleration. The suspected cause was a bad ignition coil, possibly due to a faulty cable or plug. After consulting with a mechanic, it was confirmed that a bad ignition coil and connector were the issues. Replacing these components resolved the problem.

The 'bucking bronco' sensation is spot on. Could you tell me which ignition coil(s) were the problem, and how you diagnosed it?

Well, I didn't have the gear to properly diagnose it myself, so I took it to a trusted mechanic. They ran some tests and confirmed it was one of the coil packs failing. Best bet is to get it checked out at a workshop.

I took your advice and went to a mechanic. They found a bad ignition coil because of a bad connector. Replacing the coil and connector cost 95€. It's running great now.

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my Matrix. Check engine light, hesitation, the whole shebang. Does it feel like you're driving a bucking bronco sometimes? I would start by looking at the ignition coils and their connectors. They can get corroded or cracked over time.
