Matrix transmission control unit malfunction

My 2006 Toyota Matrix (gasoline engine) with 81301 km is having transmission control unit issues. Paddle shifters don't work, gearbox slips and shifts uncleanly, and there are grinding noises when shifting. Paddle shifters respond slowly, and the gearbox is in emergency mode. Error is stored in the error memory, leading me to suspect a defective control unit. Anyone seen this?

I own a Toyota Matrix as well, and I had similar symptoms some time ago. It sounds very much like a transmission control unit issue. Did you observe any specific patterns or circumstances that might have triggered the problem, such as driving conditions or particular gear changes? Do you have any diagnostic codes that you were able to pull?

Thanks for the quick response. I don't recall any specific circumstances that triggered this issue, but the problem seemed to worsen gradually. I retrieved the following diagnostic code: P0700 (Transmission Control System Malfunction). Does this align with your experience?

Yes, the P0700 code certainly points towards a transmission control system malfunction. Given the symptoms you've described and the error code, it seems highly probable that the control unit is indeed the culprit. I recommend consulting a trusted workshop for a thorough diagnosis and potential replacement. This is likely to require professional attention.

I appreciate your insights and recommendation. I will schedule an appointment with a reputable workshop to have the transmission control unit thoroughly assessed and replaced. Thanks again for your invaluable assistance.
