Maverick ABS Lateral Acceleration Sensor Fault

I'm having a nightmare with my 2020 Ford Maverick Hybrid. It's got about 123k kilometers on it. Recently, the ABS light keeps popping up, and the whole ABS system seems to be failing intermittently. I ran a diagnostic scan, and it's showing a lateral acceleration sensor fault. Anyone else experienced this? Could a dodgy wheel alignment cause this, or is it more likely the sensor itself? It's driving me nuts and I'm worried about safety!

Whoa, sounds rough! I've got a Maverick too, though mine isn't a hybrid. I had a similar issue with the ABS and stability control freaking out a while back. Turned out to be something to do with a sensor. Was the diagnostic scan specifically pointing to the lateral acceleration sensor, or just a general ABS error?

The scan was pretty specific, yeah. It said something like 'Lateral Acceleration Sensor: Defective signal' and the code pointed directly to that sensor. Did your scan show the same thing, or was it more ambiguous? And how did you eventually fix it?

Ah, if it's calling out the lateral acceleration sensor specifically, that sounds like the culprit. Mine was a similar sensor issue although I can't remember which one exactly. Honestly, I just took it to a workshop. These electronic stability systems are too important to mess with. I'd advise you do the same.

Thanks a lot! That confirms my suspicions. I was hoping it was something simple, but I guess not. I'll book it into the workshop and get them to take a look at the lateral acceleration sensor. Better safe than sorry, especially with the ABS acting up. I'll share how it goes once it's sorted. They quoted me 1000€...
