Maverick Central Locking Failure

My 2003 Ford Maverick with a gasoline engine has central locking issues. The doors won't lock or unlock using the key fob or the interior switch. A scan throws an error code related to the security system. Fuses related to the door locks and security system seem fine. Is there a common point of failure I should investigate before tearing apart door panels?

Summary of the thread

A 2003 Ford Maverick is experiencing central locking issues, with neither the key fob nor the interior switch functioning, and an error code related to the security system. Initial checks showed fuses were fine, but further investigation suggested potential issues with the wiring harness or a faulty door lock actuator or Body Control Module (BCM). The problem was ultimately traced to a corroded connector in the door harness, which was cleaned and secured by a workshop, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Electrical gremlins are the worst! Did you actually test the fuses with a multimeter, or just eyeball them? Sometimes they look fine, but the filament is actually broken. Also, have you checked the wiring harness where it passes from the body to the door? Those can get brittle and crack over time, leading to shorts or broken circuits, especially with a system as fiddly as central locking. Gotta chase those ohms!

Good point about the multimeter, hadn't thought to actually test them like that, I'll double-check those. As for the wiring harness, where exactly is that located? And how do I best access it without causing more damage?

I’ve been burned by 'good looking' fuses before! The wiring harness is usually located in the flexible rubber boot between the door and the body of the truck, kinda near the door hinge area. Getting to it can be a pain, usually involves peeling back that rubber boot and carefully inspecting the wires inside. But honestly, given the age and the error code you're getting, it might be a bad door lock actuator or the Body Control Module (BCM) itself throwing a fit. You might be better off letting a shop diagnose it before you start breaking plastic trim pieces.

Finally figured out the culprit. It was a corroded connector in the door harness like you suspected. It required the connector to be cleaned and secured. Workshop confirmed with their diagnostic tool and did the job for 95€. Appreciate the advice!
