Maverick Gearbox Slipping

I have a 2006 Ford Maverick with a diesel engine that's done 247473 km. The gearbox slips and shifts uncleanly. I think it might be transfer case oil wear, could it be defective gears inside the transfer case?

I know the Ford Maverick well. Gearbox slippage and unclean shifting points to transfer case problems. Have you seen any oil leakage near the transfer case? An oil change might help temporarily, but worn gears could be the real cause.

I haven't spotted any oil leaks, but I'll check again. If the gears are defective, should I replace the whole transfer case, or are there other fixes?

Given the symptoms and mileage, bad gears are likely. An oil change might give you some time, but it won't fix it. Get a technician to check it out. They can see how bad it is and tell you if you need to replace the gears or the whole transfer case. I had a similar issue and had to visit a workshop.

Thanks for the advice. I'll get a technician to take a look. The estimated repair cost is around 330€. You've helped me understand what's going on.
