Maverick Hybrid Engine Jerking Whistling Noise

Help! My 2020 Ford Maverick Hybrid is acting up. I've only done 31849 km. The check engine light is on, and it's jerking when I accelerate. Plus, there's this whistling noise that turns into a loud hissing when I really step on it. Sometimes it even stalls at idle. I've noticed higher fuel consumption and it just feels like the engine's lost power. What could be wrong?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Ford Maverick Hybrid is experiencing engine issues, including jerking during acceleration, a whistling noise that turns into a hissing sound, stalling at idle, and increased fuel consumption. The check engine light is on, and the engine seems to have lost power. The problem is identified as a defective boost pressure sensor, specifically a cable or plug issue, which was causing these symptoms. The suggested solution is to inspect and repair the sensor connections, which resolved the issue.

Sounds like you might have a boost leak. I had similar issues with my Maverick. Check the turbo boost sensor connections and all the air intake hoses for cracks or loose clamps. A faulty connection there can cause all sorts of weird problems with the turbocharger, especially that whistling sound you mentioned.

Where exactly is the turbo boost sensor located? I'm not very familiar with these new engines, and I'm afraid of making things worse by fiddling around blindly.

It's usually somewhere along the intake manifold, but honestly, without knowing exactly what I'm doing, I'd take it to a workshop. A broken cable or a defective plug connection of the sensor is often the cause of the error. It seems minor, but your symptoms sound serious. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on: a defective boost pressure sensor. It was a cable/plug issue, just as you suspected, and it was causing all those symptoms. Repair cost me 95€. Really appreciate the help!
