Maverick Hybrid Microphone Failure

Maverick Hybrid owners, my 2021 Ford Maverick Hybrid is giving me grief. 139k km. Suddenly, the hands-free microphone is dead. Telephony is kaput, and the error memory is screaming. I'm guessing it's the infotainment system, but is there anything I can try before handing over a small fortune? Similar wireless connection gremlins?

Sounds frustrating! I had a similar issue with my 2018 Volvo XC60 – the voice recognition just packed it in. No audio input, nothing. Did you try a system reset? Sometimes that clears up weird software glitches. Are you sure it's not a dodgy Bluetooth connection or some other simple pairing issue?

Thanks for the quick reply! I did try a full system reset – held down the power button until it rebooted, the whole shebang. Bluetooth seems fine for music, it's just the microphone during calls that's completely silent. Could it still be a software issue even if other audio functions are working? Is there anything else besides the infotainment system that could be causing this, or am I just delaying the inevitable?

Given that you've already tried the reset and Bluetooth seems functional for other purposes, it does point towards a deeper problem within the infotainment system itself. With my Volvo, the dealer confirmed it was a faulty microphone module integrated into the main unit. I'd say it's time to bite the bullet and get it checked out at a reputable workshop. Better to know for sure what's going on and avoid further damage, right?

Yeah, you're probably right. Just got the estimate from the shop: 815€ to replace the whole infotainment unit. Ouch! Thanks for confirming my suspicions, though; at least I know I'm not crazy. It's getting fixed next week...
