Maverick intake manifold issue

My 2005 Ford Maverick, diesel engine, is showing reduced engine power, rough running, and jerking when accelerating, with a loud hissing sound and increased fuel consumption. I suspect a defective intake manifold flap control switch. Anyone else had similar intake system issues?

Sounds familiar. My old Opel Astra had almost the same symptoms, though it was a petrol engine. Reduced power, weird noises... it was something to do with the air intake system. I'm no expert, but have you checked for engine light codes?

Yes, the engine light is on. It's throwing a generic code related to the intake manifold. Was your issue specifically the flap control mechanism, or something else?

I can't remember the specifics; this was years ago. I recall the mechanic mentioning a valve that wasn't opening properly. If your code reader points to the intake manifold, get it checked by a professional. Could be a quick fix, or something more serious.

Appreciate the advice. I dropped it off at the shop. It was the intake manifold flap control, like I suspected. New switch, labor, and 465€ later, it's running smooth again. Thanks for sharing your experience!
