Maverick Keyless Entry Failure

I'm having a weird issue with my 2007 Ford Maverick diesel with about 240,640 km on the clock. The keyless access has just stopped working on the driver's side. I've also got an error stored in the error memory, but I don't have the equipment to read it myself. Could it just be a fuse, or something more serious? Anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Ford Maverick experienced a keyless entry failure on the driver's side, with an error stored in the system. The issue was suspected to be related to a fuse or a more serious electrical fault. Upon further inspection and professional diagnosis, the problem was identified as a defective plug connection within the door mechanism. After repair, the keyless entry system was restored to full functionality.

I am familiar with the Ford Maverick and its common electrical vulnerabilities. The symptoms you describe – keyless access failure coupled with an error code – do suggest a localized fault within the door mechanism itself. Have you inspected the door wiring harness for any signs of physical damage or corrosion? A compromised cable or plug connection is indeed a plausible explanation, though further diagnostics would be required for definitive confirmation.

Thanks for the reply. I've had a quick look at the wiring where it's visible in the door jamb, but didn't see anything obvious. Is there a common spot where these wires tend to break, or is it something that needs a more in-depth look? Also, would you say it's a bad idea to keep using the key in the lock in the meantime?

Given your initial inspection yielded no immediate findings, a more thorough examination of the door wiring, including the harness within the door cavity, is warranted. While continued use of the physical key is unlikely to exacerbate the underlying electrical issue, I would recommend a professional diagnostic assessment at your earliest convenience. A reputable workshop should possess the requisite tools and expertise to pinpoint the precise location and nature of the fault, and provide an effective remedy. Cable or plug connection faults are the most common issues here. Please note, that a faulty door mechanism can cause the described symptoms.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local garage and they confirmed it was a defective plug connection in the door mechanism, just as you suggested. They fixed it for 95€. All working again now!
