Maverick temperature readings incorrect
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Ford Maverick diesel is experiencing incorrect temperature readings on the instrument cluster, an intermittent check engine light, and a longer engine warm-up time. The suspected causes include a restricted cooling grille or a defective fuse. After a visual inspection revealed no obstructions, it was suggested to have the vehicle professionally inspected, leading to a resolution at a workshop.

I visually inspected the grille and radiator for obstructions, but found nothing. Was your issue also intermittent, and did it trigger the check engine light?

Yeah, mine was intermittent at first, then got worse. Check engine light definitely came on eventually. Honestly, after messing around a bit, I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quick.

Based on your experience, it seems best to have it professionally inspected. I'll schedule an appointment with a trusted workshop to diagnose it. The repair cost came out to 52€.

Hey, I had something similar happen with my Maverick. Noticed the engine was taking ages to warm up, and then the temperature readings went bonkers. Did you check if anything's actually blocking the grille? Like, leaves, plastic bag, that kind of thing?
