Maverick transmission issues

Hey, I'm having some weird issues with my 2001 Ford Maverick with a gasoline engine. It's got about 95,000 km on it. The automatic transmission seems to be acting up shifting is all over the place, the transmission indicator light is on, and sometimes it just doesn't shift right. It even went into emergency mode once. Could this be worn-out transmission oil?

Interesting. I've got a Maverick too. Are you experiencing any transmission slipping or rough gear changes? A friend of mine with a similar issue was told it might be related to undervoltage in the vehicle affecting the transmission control unit. Is your battery in good shape?

Slipping is definitely happening, yeah. Undervoltage, huh? I hadn't considered that. How did your friend figure out it was an undervoltage issue? What was the fix?

Well, after experiencing the same symptoms – the erratic shifting and emergency mode – he took it to a trusted mechanic. They diagnosed undervoltage causing the transmission to act up. Replacing some faulty wiring and ensuring a stable voltage supply to the transmission control unit solved it. I suggest you check with a workshop. What could possibly go wrong?

Thanks so much for the advice! I had it checked out, and you were right, undervoltage was indeed the culprit. Got it fixed for 240€. New wiring did the trick! I really appreciate the help.
