Maxima battery discharge

I own a 2003 Nissan Maxima with a gasoline engine. Recently, the battery has been heavily discharged. I'm seeing an error message in the speedometer, the lights are weak and flickering, and an error is stored in the error memory. The battery also seems weak when starting the engine. Could this be related to a faulty battery?

I had similar issues with my Maxima. It sounds like a low battery issue, potentially a parasitic drain. Have you checked the battery's voltage and charging system?

Thank you for your insights. No, I have not. What voltage should I be looking for, and is there a simple way to test the charging system without specialized tools?

I was in the same boat. After a lot of research, a defective battery sensor turned out to be the culprit in my case, causing excessive battery drain. I would suggest having it checked at a workshop.

Thank you, I appreciate the advice. It seems you were spot on. I took it to a workshop and it was indeed the battery sensor, costing 315€ to repair. I will mark this as resolved.
