Maxima Immobilizer Key Programming Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Nissan Maxima owner experienced starting issues, suspecting an immobilizer problem possibly due to incorrect key programming. Despite trying a spare key, the issue persisted, indicating a potential fault with the immobilizer system rather than the key itself. A suggestion was made to visit a workshop for proper diagnosis, which confirmed the key programming error, resolving the issue at a cost of 45€.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried the spare key, same thing. Engine either won't start, or starts then stalls. Error code is still there. Sound like your issue? Thinking about an immobilizer bypass.

Yes, that mirrors my experience almost exactly. Given that both keys are exhibiting the same behavior, it does indeed point towards a deeper immobilizer issue. I would suggest that the key programming might be faulty. I think it is time to visit a workshop. They'll have the equipment to diagnose it properly.

Appreciate the insights. I took your advice and visited a local workshop. Turns out, the key programming was indeed incorrect. Repair cost was only 45€. Thanks again for the help; it was extremely helpful in resolving this.

That sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my Maxima. It was like the car didn't recognize the key. Have you tried your spare key to see if that makes a difference? It could rule out whether it's specifically a key issue or something more systemic with the car electronics.
