Maxima Key Battery Low Warning

I'm getting a 'key battery low' warning on my 2007 Nissan Maxima with a gasoline engine. Keyless access isn't working, there's an error stored, and the locking system is acting up. With 158081 km, could it just be the key battery?

Summary of the thread

A 'key battery low' warning appeared on a 2007 Nissan Maxima, causing keyless access issues and a malfunctioning locking system. The problem was suspected to be due to a low battery in the key fob. After replacing the key fob battery, the issues were resolved, confirming the battery was the cause.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I have a Maxima too, and I ran into something similar. The key fob was finicky at first, then got worse until I had to use the key. Did you try the spare key? It could rule out a problem with the car's receiver.

Thanks, I haven't tried the spare key yet. If the spare key does the same thing, what could that mean?

If both keys are acting up, it's probably not just the key batteries. It could be a receiver issue in the car, or some electrical problem. Electrical problems can be a pain. I'd probably take it to a workshop to get it diagnosed.

I replaced the battery in the key fob, and that fixed it. The repair cost 37€.
