Maxima Overheating Due to Blocked Grille

I'm seeking insights regarding an issue with my 2009 Nissan Maxima with a gasoline engine. At 191,952 kilometers, it seems like there's a restriction in the cooling grille area. The temperature readings are inconsistent, the check engine light is on, and it takes a long time for the engine to warm up. I suspect a defective fuse. Any guidance?

I've seen similar behavior in my Maxima. Have you checked the radiator grille for obstructions? Road debris can restrict airflow, impacting engine cooling and temperature sensor readings. This could trigger the check engine light and explain the extended warm-up time.

Thanks, I appreciate that someone else may have experienced a similar situation. Could you be more specific about the type of debris you found and where it was lodged?

I found leaves and plastic bags accumulated behind the grille, directly in front of the radiator. Thorough cleaning of that area is worth doing. However, the symptoms you describe might indicate a more intricate issue, so a workshop visit might be advisable.

Your insights were invaluable. After inspection, I found a significant accumulation of debris obstructing the radiator grille, and the restricted airflow was the problem. Repair costs were just replacing a fuse and cost me 52€. Thank you again; it’s nice to have a second opinion before going to the shop.
