Maxima rear window heating issue

The error code is rather generic, pointing to a general electrical malfunction. I haven't put a multimeter on the battery yet, I admit. If the battery voltage is indeed low, could that genuinely prevent the rear window heating from working, while other functions seem relatively normal?

A low voltage can definitely cause issues with high-draw components like the heating coil. The car's computer might be prioritizing other systems. Given the generic error code and your symptoms, a battery issue is highly probable. However, considering the error memory, I suggest visiting a workshop to have them diagnose the electrical system properly. It might save you time and money in the long run.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local workshop as you suggested. Turns out, the battery was indeed the culprit. A new battery and a reset of the error memory did the trick. Repair cost was around 290€. Appreciate the help!

Interesting issue. Does the error code point specifically to the heating coil circuit, or is it a more general electrical fault? Have you checked the voltage of your battery? A weak battery can cause all sorts of weird electrical gremlins. It's worth a shot before digging deeper into the defroster repair.
