Maxima solar sensor fault

I've got a 2020 Nissan Maxima with a gasoline engine and I'm running into a weird issue. The car is showing an error related to the solar sensor and the heating isn't working as well as it should. I checked for any obvious loose connections, but didn't find anything. Any thoughts?

Interesting. I had a similar problem with my 2017 BMW 3 series. Same symptoms - error code related to the sunlight sensor, and the climate control was acting up. Did you check the sensor itself for any physical damage or debris? Also, do you have access to a scan tool that can read the specific error code? Knowing the code could point you to a more specific cause.

Thanks for the quick reply! No visible damage, but I don't have a scan tool that gives a specific error code, just a generic one saying 'solar sensor fault'. Was it a difficult fix on your BMW? Did you end up replacing the sensor?

On my BMW, it turned out to be a faulty connection – corroded pins in the connector, to be precise. I cleaned them up, but the problem returned after a while, so I ended up having the whole connector replaced at a workshop. If you're not comfortable messing with wiring, I would advise going to a professional, especially since the heating output is affected. Could be a more serious issue.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I took it to a trusted mechanic and the solar sensor had a defective cable. They fixed the cable for 95€ and now everything seems to be working fine.
