Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience! It's comforting to know I'm not alone. My Carol has a gasoline engine and it's been running fine so far. I've clocked about 168,690 km and just had the latest service done. So, reckon it to be some software issue, not a mechanical one? Ah, hearing about ECU replacement takes me back, had to do the same with my ol' car once. Not what I'm hoping for with this one, but if that's what it takes! Will look into that and check with my mechanic as well. Cheers for the heads up!
Hey again,, Glad you found my first-hand experience helpful! That's a pretty serious mileage you've put on your Carol, good on ya! If your lights are dimming or flickering and there's a warning light on the speedo, it could indeed be something related to your vehicle's software, just like you initially suspected. But from my understanding (and trust me, I'm not an expert here), it's not always a software problem. These symptoms could also be signs of a failing alternator. In fact, when I had similar issues on my Demio, my mechanic first checked the alternator and the wiring. Only after confirming they were in good condition did he suggest the ECU replacement. So, my I'd say, have your mechanic do a thorough check - the software, wiring, alternator - the works. Hopefully, it turns out to be something simpler and less expensive than an ECU swap. Wise to keep all your bases covered, right? Best of luck!
Hello again, you've been an absolute trove of useful info! Yeah, it’s put on quite a bit of distance but it's been a smooth ride so far. Your suggestion of checking the alternator and wiring does make sense and has got me thinking, even though I was leaning towards a software issue. It’s definitely worth making sure all possibilities are checked out. I’ll go ahead and book an appointment with my mechanic to have him do a thorough look-over. Hoping that it's not something major and can be fixed without busting my bank. Appreciate the advice and shared experience! This conversation has been a blessing! Fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Thanks heaps! Cheers!
Hey there, I've dealt with a similar issue on my 2018 Mazda Demio, so I reckon we are in the same boat. Now, I'm no car guru but I have some experience mucking around with these things. My workshop helped me by replacing the Engine Control Unit (ECU) as it was messing up. The annoying part was that the new ECU wasn't initially programmed to my vehicle, causing some problems. So, we had it programmed and voila, all glitches were gone! The total damage was around 240€, but it saved a lot of head-scratching moments, trust me! Could you share the specifics of your model and engine? It might help a bit more with your issue. Good luck, and hope your Mazda behaves soon!
