Mazda CX3 Diesel 2022 Loses Power, Experiences Rough Idle with Check Engine Light On: Seeking Advice

Hey all, I'm having a bit of a weird issue with my 2022 Mazda CX3 Diesel. Lately, the check engine light has come on, it's losing power and the fuel economy isn't great. I've also noticed a harsh exhaust smell and it shakes while idling. I suspect it's somehow related to the engine running rough. Has anyone else experienced something like this with their Mazda? Any ideas on potential causes or fixes? What was your experience at the workshop? Any tips would be massive! Thanks!

Hey! Oh, I feel you. I had a similar rough-running issue with my 2020 Mazda CX5 Diesel. I'd say I have some experience with cars (I'm no expert, but I can generally hold my own). Took it to my trusty workshop where they diagnosed it with defective injectors. Wasn't expecting that, right? Ended up costing me 515€ to get it fixed, but it's been smooth sailing since then. Could you tell me a bit more about your car? How many miles does it have on it and when was the last time you had it serviced? Has it been regularly maintained? This could give me a better idea of what you might be dealing with. Don't worry, we'll figure this out!

Hey! Thanks for the response! You really are a lifesaver. My CX3 Diesel has run about 288209 KM, pretty hefty, I know. As far as the last service goes, it was quite recent. I guess regular maintenance slipped up a few times, life was a bit crazy you know? Sounds like the injector issue you faced might be what’s going on with my ride too. I guess I'll have to brace for the unexpected expense too, huh? Still, better to get it sorted and have the peace of mind. Thanks again for your input. It's really helped put my mind at ease.

Hey! No problem at all! I’m here to help out. And yeah, I can understand how life can get crazy and car maintenance can take a back seat. Happens to the best of us. Regarding your Mazda's situation, the mileage definitely points to the injectors, among other things. Just like in my case, rough running can be a sign of defective injectors. Plus, diesel engines are tough but once they get up there in miles, injectors can cause the kind of symptoms you're describing. Just brace yourself for the expense. It's a bummer, but you know, it’s better than letting your ride suffer more damage in the long run. Once it's done, you'll notice a huge difference, just like I did with my CX5. Call up your workshop and schedule an appointment. Let's hope for the best! At the end of it all, it's all about keeping our Mazdas happy and healthy, right? Glad I could help and feel free to message if you have more questions!

Hey! Appreciate your continued advice! Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. It's all bout keeping our Mazdas purring. I'll call up my workshop first thing tomorrow and get this issue sorted. Feels like fixing the injectors is the way to go and frankly, I'm more than willing to shell out the dough if it ends this ordeal. All's well that ends well, right? Thanks again, and I'll definitely hit you if there's anything else that comes up. Cheers!
