Mazda CX30 2022 Gasoline: Transmission Issues with Slipping, Gear Grinding, and Persistent Noise - Seeking Advice

Grinding noise when shifting gears

Whining or grinding noises

Transmission slips/shifts erratically

Hey! I'm having some weird issues with my 2022 Mazda CX30 Gasoline. Lately, my transmission’s been slipping and shifting pretty erratically, there's this grinding sound when I shift gears, and a persistent whining, grinding noise I can't seem to understand. I'm suspecting something could be wrong with the transmission oil pressure, but I'm not entirely sure. Wondering if anyone here has had a similar issue and how you managed to fix it? Would appreciate any tips, especially those related to workshop experiences. Cheers!

Hey there sounds like a familiar issue I had with my 2020 Mazda CX5 Diesel a while back. For what it’s worth, I'm no mechanic but have a decent dose of car experience. In my case, the culprit turned out to be the transmission oil level being too low. Took my baby to the local workshop for a quick fix and lo and behold, problem solved. Got the oil topped up and paid about 365 Euro in the process which isn't too bad. By the looks of it, your rig could be experiencing the same issue. Could you share some more info about your car? Like precise mileage, last service details, if any specific situations cause more noise (like uphill drive etc.), and the like? That would help paint a clearer picture and possibly confirm if you've got the same gremlin I had. Cheers!

Thanks for the quick response. My Mazda's currently clocking around 125506KM. Went for my last service check sometime back, nothing popped up then. As for the noise, it's pretty much constant but seems to get a bit louder during uphill drives. I guess I'll get the tranny oil checked as well. Cheers for the heads up!

No worries at all. Seeing that the mileage on your Mazda is quite high, it's possible that the tranny oil could be due for a change. The terrain does play a part - more stress on the engine and transmission during those uphill drives, hence the increase in noise. One more thing you could check is the condition of your transmission's filter. Its job is to catch any metal shavings or debris that make their way into the fluid, preventing them from damaging other parts of the transmission. Over time, though, a filter can become clogged and might restrict the fluid flow, leading to issues like the ones you're experiencing. What I'd suggest is you take your car in for a transmission oil and filter change. It's pretty standard and shouldn't set you back too much - I paid about 380 Euro for both during my last workshop visit. Of course, prices can vary a bit based on the workshop, but it's worth sorting this out sooner rather than later to avoid more costly repairs down the line. Safe driving!

Cheers for the detailed insight it's been a solid help. Didn't think about the... filter, makes perfect sense. It's probably time to show my Mazda some love and get that transmission oil and filter change done. I’ll prepare myself for around 400 Euro, hopefully, it won't exceed that. Your advice will surely help me prevent a possible premature transmission job. Thanks heaps. Safe travels to you too!
