Mazda CX5 2018 Model: Underperforming A/C and Suspected Interior Temperature Sensor Signal Error

Hey all, I'm having issues with my 2018 Mazda CX5, sporting a Gasoline engine with around 111,759KM on the clock. The A/C's been blowing warm air recently, and both the cooling and heating haven't been up to par. What's worse, the A/C system doesn't seem to be engaging properly. I suspect it could be due to an Interior temperature sensor signal error. Has anyone else encountered similar problems and could potentially share their experience or advice? Also, I had a bit of a sour deal at the mechanics last time, would love to hear about your experiences and any reliable ones you'd recommend. Thanks a bunch!

Hey! Yeah, your suspicion seems about right. I had something similar with my 2015 Mazda MX-5 a while back. The A/C wasn't cooling properly, and it turned out to be a problem with the sensor cable connection. I took it to my local garage, and they identified that the Interior Temperature Sensor was not signalling correctly because of a faulty cable connection. They saw that the wires to the sensor were frayed, compromising the sensor's ability to communicate with the rest of the A/C system. That's why it wasn't engaging as it should. It wasn't a lethal problem per se, but it was definitely something that needed to be addressed for the sake of comfort and longevity of the A/C system. They repaired the cable connection, put everything back together, and my A/C's been kicking at the right temperatures ever since. As far as recommendations, it's always a bit hit and miss with garages. Just make sure you go somewhere they specialize in Mazda or at least have a good reputation for dealing with sensor and cable issues. Hope this helps out!

Hey there, Yup, your experience sounds just about right for what I'm going through with my Mazda CX5. Glad to hear your A/C is back in business after fixing up that pesky sensor cable connection. If you don't mind me asking, do you recall approximately how much you were charged for the repair? Always helps to have a ballpark figure before making a trip to the garage. And did you face any other issues connected to this afterward or has it been smooth sailing? Cheers!

Hey again, Yeah sure, no worries! I remember the fix for that sensor cable connection issue setting me back around 110€. Since it was just a minor fault and not a major overhaul, I'd say it was a fair shake. And to answer your second question, everything's been pretty much sailing smooth since the repair. Once they fixed the Interior temperature sensor signal, my A/C system has been performing as it used to, no longer blowing that unwanted warm air. So yeah, I'd definitely say getting it sorted out was worth every penny for a comfy ride in my Mazda. Remember, it's not just about finding a cheap repair, but rather a good quality fix that'll do your car justice. Good luck with your own Mazda hope all goes well for you!

Hey! I definitely appreciate you sharing this. I'm relieved to hear the repair is not as costly as I feared. And knowing that the repair has held up for you adds a bit of peace to my mind. You're absolutely right; a quality job that solves the problem rather than a quick fix is what I'm after. I'll make sure to shop around for reputable mechanics and see who I trust the most with my Mazda. Thanks again for your help and post-service insights, it sure will make my search for a good mechanic a little less daunting. Cheers to you and your MX-5!
