Mazda CX5 Overheating and A/C Issues: Possible Motor Fan Speed Sensor Problem

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my '13 Mazda CX3 a while back. My expertise with cars is more at the 'some experience' level but managed to sort it out. Turned out to be a defective speed sensor. Took it to my regular workshop. The guys there found the problem pretty quickly and replaced the sensor. Cost me about 250€, but ain't had no troubles since. However, every car's different so it might not be exactly what you're dealing with. What's your mileage? Hey! Thanks for the quick response. That sounds pretty similar to what I'm experiencing. My Mazda's an automatic and has done a fair bit of travel - sitting at around 260226 KM. Also, the last servicing for it was done not too long back. Any additional insights would be hugely appreciated. Cheers!

Hey again! Thanks for the extra info. With such a mileage, aside from a defective speed sensor, other things can come into play as well. The overheating might also be due to issues with the radiator or a failing thermostat. The A/C not kicking in could be due to low freon levels or even a faulty A/C compressor clutch. In my case (my Mazda had done some serious kilometers too), after the speed sensor was replaced, we found out that low coolant was contributing to the overheating, so we topped that off. And found a minor refrigerant leak which was messing with the A/C. I'd recommend you get those things checked out, as they could be part of the problem. Do keep in mind though, every situation is just a tad bit unique. Anyway, hoping this helps out a little more! Just remember the best thing is to let a good mechanic have a look to give you a proper diagnosis. Good luck!
