Mazda CX8 2023 Experiencing Locking Issues and Flickering Lights, Seeks Advice on Possible Causes

Hey! I've got a 2023 Mazda CX8, gasoline engine, clocking 137k KM and I'm having a bit of a head-scratcher moment. I'm dealing with some issues like the car refusing to lock or unlock and a bit of trouble with my lights going dim or flickering from time to time. My gut tells me it might have something to do with the outside door handle electronics, but after a sour experience with my last mechanic, I'm hesitant to go back in blindly. Has anyone here ever dealt with a similar ordeal? What were your experiences, especially with your mechanic? I'd really appreciate your insights on this. Cheers!

Hey there, Sure thing, I can definitely relate to your problem. I had a similar issue pop up not long back with my 2021 Mazda CX9. Just like yours, mine had trouble with doors refusing to lock or unlock properly. Turns out it had to do with the cable connection to the outside door handle electronics, linking it back to the control unit. Worth checking if that's the same for yours. My local garage was quite thorough in diagnosing this and sorted me out pretty good. Even though I was initially panicked thinking it was a big problem, it turned out to be something that could be fixed without too much drama. Took some time and effort, but eventually it was sorted. Don't sweat it too much. Hope this helps! Cheers!

Hey! Thanks for the heads-up! It's such a relief to know your case turned out to be a manageable situation. Perhaps, I'm on the same boat, phew! I'll definitely get the cable connection checked out thoroughly on my Mazda CX8. Just out of curiosity, do you recall how much it cost you to have this issue fixed? Also, any other additional fixes or complications that popped up in the process since then? Thanks again for your help, greatly appreciated! Cheers!

Hey! No worries, happy to help a fellow Mazda owner! So, yeah, I went to my trusted mechanic and they sorted out the outside door handle electronics issue. Quite a relief, let me tell you! Dowright maddening when your car decides to throw a wobbly on you, isn't it? Now about the cost, the mechanic had to fix the cable connection to the control unit - that was the real villain here. This little operation set me back by 110.00 €. Quite reasonable, if you ask me, considering that it solved the problem straight away. No sweat since then, locks have been behaving themselves, opening and closing without a hitch! So, no new complications popped up, luckily. Door's been smooth as silk ever since they fixed it. Shows you how important it is to pick a mechanic you can trust, right? Anyway, hope this helps! Drive safe, yeah? Cheers!

Hey! Trust me, it's definitely comforting to hear you sorted it out without any added drama - and at a pretty decent cost too! I feel a lot better going into this now knowing it won't cost a fortune. I'll remember your advice about choosing my mechanic wisely; my last experience wasn't the best, so this is a welcome reminder. Yep, it does sound maddening having your car playing tricks on you, but then again, it's all part of the joys of car ownership, isn't it? Haha! Again, I really appreciate your timely advice and genuinely shared experiences. Now, fingers crossed that my situation goes as smoothly as yours did. Safe drives to you too! Cheers!
