Megane ABS Failure Lateral Acceleration Sensor
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Renault Megane is experiencing an ABS System Failure message with the ABS lamp illuminated, linked to a lateral acceleration sensor error. The issue may stem from a defective control unit, as suggested by a similar case where the sensor itself was faulty. The recommended course of action is to have the vehicle diagnosed by a trusted workshop to confirm the problem and determine the necessary repairs.

Was your issue definitively the control unit itself, or was it perhaps a wiring or sensor problem? Did the symptoms manifest intermittently at first, or was it a sudden, constant failure?

It was the unit. The workshop diagnosed it pretty quickly. They checked the wiring first, but the sensor itself was kaput. Honestly, just take it to a trusted workshop; they'll know for sure.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. It seems I'm facing a similar situation. I shall heed your advice and entrust my Megane to a workshop for a thorough diagnosis. I was hoping it was a simple fix, but alas, it seems a costly repair is in order.

I had something similar happen in my Megane. ABS light, stability control errors. Was the lateral acceleration sensor, same as you. Does the car feel unstable when cornering?
