Megane ABS Traction Control Errors

Speed sensors, huh? I've never messed with those before. Where exactly are they located, and is there an easy way to test them without any fancy equipment? I don't want to spend a fortune at the mechanic if it's something simple I can fix myself.

The speed sensors are typically located near each wheel hub, often integrated into the wheel bearing. As for testing them, it's tricky without proper tools like an oscilloscope to read the signal they're sending. Since your diagnostic tool isn't giving you a clear indication, and considering the symptoms, I'd say it's best to get it to a workshop with the right equipment. A faulty control unit can cause all sorts of unpredictable issues, and it's not worth risking your safety trying to diagnose it yourself. When I had the issue with my Insignia I brought it to the shop and they quoted me 1000€ which was a kick in the teeth!

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like this is beyond my limited abilities. I'll bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. I am expecting a hefty bill. I'll post what the outcome is when I get it sorted, just in case anyone else has this issue.

That sounds mighty familiar! I had a similar headache with my old Opel Insignia a few years back. Same symptoms: ABS light, traction control going haywire. For me, it ended up being a faulty ABS control unit. Have you checked the speed sensors on each wheel? A bad sensor can definitely throw off the whole system, and it might not always show up clearly on a generic OBD reader. It's worth investigating before you start suspecting the control unit itself.
