Megane automatic transmission defective parking position

My 2001 Renault Megane with a gasoline engine and 199252 km is having automatic transmission issues. The engine won't start in park, the check engine light is on, the gearbox is slipping, shifting is unclean, and there's an error code. I suspect a defective control unit. Has anyone else seen this before? What am I looking at?

Whoa, sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Megane. Was yours shifting weirdly, too? The park position was the first thing that went south for me, but then it started impacting other gears. What error codes are you pulling?

Weirdly is an understatement! Slipping, shuddering, you name it. Feels like it's picking gears out of a hat. I can get the exact error codes later, but do you also think it's the control unit? What parts are affected?

Sounds EXACTLY like what I went through. Seriously, get it checked pronto. I limped mine to a transmission specialist, and yeah, control unit was fried. You DON'T want to keep driving it like that. Seriously, you'll probably damage the whole transmission.

Thanks! Looks like transmission repair here I come since I cannot shift this car at all. I already booked an appointment with a specialist. The transmission shop estimated around 1000€, so I know what I will be doing shortly. I appreciate the input!
