Megane check engine light VANOS issue

Check engine light on my 2018 Renault Megane diesel, and fuel consumption is way up. Mechanic says it's the inlet VANOS, maybe a camshaft solenoid valve or power to it. Anyone seen this before? How'd you fix it?

I've got a Megane too, not sure the year. Had something similar. "VANOS" is BMW speak, but other brands have the same variable valve timing. If that solenoid's off, timing goes haywire, which would explain the light and the fuel. Did they check the wiring to the solenoid?

Not sure about the wiring. Where can I find the solenoid valve for the inlet camshaft?

Hard to say exactly without the engine code. It's usually on the cylinder head, near the camshaft. Since you're unsure about checking the wiring, I'd take it to a shop. I had to get the solenoid replaced, cost about 250€.

Thanks for the confirmation and cost idea. I'll get it to the workshop.
