Megane Cruise Control Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Renault Megane electric is experiencing cruise control failure, with the system not engaging and an error stored in memory. Diagnostics suggest a defective cable or plug as the cause. A similar issue was resolved by checking the brake light switch, as a faulty switch can prevent cruise control from engaging by signaling the car that the brakes are applied. It is recommended to inspect the cable connections and brake light switch to address the problem.

Thanks. I haven't checked the brake light switch specifically. Could a faulty brake light switch really prevent cruise control from engaging and store an error? Any details about the error you saw that might help?

Yep, a faulty brake light switch can definitely cause that. The car thinks you're braking, so it disengages cruise control as a safety measure. I took mine to a workshop and they confirmed it was a cable issue. Cost me around 95€ to fix.

Understood. Thanks for the clarification and the cost estimate. I'll take the Megane to a workshop to have the cable connections inspected. Your info is helpful. The repair cost gives me a good idea of what to expect.

Hey! I had a similar issue with my Megane. Cruise control died, and diagnostics pointed to a dodgy connection. Did you check the brake light switch? Sometimes a faulty switch can mess with the cruise control.
