Megane Emergency Call System Error

I've got a 2011 Renault Megane diesel with 121858 km. The emergency call system is throwing an error, a constant message is on the speedometer, and a warning light is on. Cables and plugs seem okay, but I suspect that's the problem. Anyone else had this?

Summary of the thread

A 2011 Renault Megane diesel is experiencing an emergency call system error, with a persistent message on the speedometer and a warning light. Initial checks of cables and plugs appear fine, but a faulty connection is suspected. Suggested solutions include checking fuses, disconnecting the battery to reset the system, and potentially seeking professional diagnosis if these steps don't resolve the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had something similar with my Megane, though mine's not a 2011. Same error message and the light show on the dash. Did you check all the fuses related to the control module? That's where I'd start. Did you try resetting the system or disconnecting the battery for a while? Sometimes that can clear a glitch. Anything else happen before it started? Any diagnostic codes?

I did check the fuses - they all seemed fine. I haven't tried disconnecting the battery yet; I'll give that a shot. Where exactly is the control module located? What kind of diagnostic codes were you getting? Knowing that would be a huge help. I was hoping to avoid a trip to the shop...

Disconnecting the battery is worth a try, just remember you might need to enter your radio code afterwards. Honestly, from what you're describing and what I went through, it does sound like a deeper issue. I couldn't fix it myself, and I ended up taking it to a workshop. They told me a faulty connection was responsible for the error, and they charged me 95€. I'd suggest getting it properly diagnosed if the battery trick doesn't work.

I appreciate the info! Looks like a trip to the mechanic is in order. I'll try the battery disconnect first, but I'm not holding my breath. Knowing the repair cost helps me mentally prepare for the bill, at least. Turns out a faulty cable or plug connection of the component was indeed defective. Thanks again!
