Megane hybrid jerking and whistling
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Renault Megane hybrid was experiencing jerking during acceleration, a whistling noise, engine stalling, increased fuel consumption, and sluggish performance, with the check engine light on. The issues were suspected to be related to a faulty boost pressure sensor or defective cable connections. After consulting a workshop, it was confirmed that the boost pressure sensor was faulty due to a defective cable connection, which was then replaced, resolving the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly is the boost pressure sensor located? And what should I be looking for in terms of damage or corrosion? Is it something I can fix myself, or am I better off taking it to a shop?

The sensor's location can vary, but it's generally found on or near the intake manifold or the turbocharger itself. Inspect the wiring harness and connector for any breaks, loose pins, or green/white powdery residue, which indicates corrosion. Given the potential for misdiagnosis and the complexity of the turbo system, I recommend consulting a qualified technician.

Thanks a lot for your help! I took it to the workshop and you were spot on. The boost pressure sensor was faulty because of a defective cable connection. They replaced the cable and the sensor, and it cost me around 95€. Now the car runs like new!

I had similar symptoms in my old Opel Astra, though it was a petrol model. A faulty boost pressure sensor can definitely cause those issues. Have you checked the sensor's wiring and connections for any signs of damage or corrosion?
