Megane Jerking Acceleration

My 2009 Renault Megane diesel is jerking when accelerating, the check engine light is on, and power is down. Sometimes it stalls when idling. The engine sounds rough, and there's a strong exhaust smell. I got the error memory read out and an error was stored. Could this be a manifold sensor issue, something to do with the car manifold itself, or maybe even a vacuum leak? Any ideas?

Hey there! I had almost the exact same symptoms with my Megane: jerking, check engine light, the works. Have you checked the intake manifold? It might be worth a look. Was the error code related to that?

Thanks for the tip! I haven't specifically checked the intake manifold yet. How would I go about checking it myself? And what exactly would I be looking for?

Well, I'm no expert, but when mine went bad, it was due to scorching and leaking. Honestly, it's probably best to just take it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed and fixed. If it is the intake manifold, it's not a cheap repair. I had to pay 1180€ to get mine sorted.

Thanks so much for the advice! I think I'll take your suggestion and get it checked out by a professional. It sounds like the intake manifold is the most likely culprit, and I definitely don't want to mess with it myself. I’ll report back for future reference. Turns out that the intake manifold was defective, and it's now repaired.
