Mercedes A-Class Diesel 2011: indicator light, high temperature and low coolant level
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Mercedes A-Class diesel is experiencing issues with an indicator light, rising temperature, and low coolant level. The owner suspects a message error between control units. A similar issue in a 2014 Mercedes B-Class diesel was resolved by replacing a faulty parking heater control unit, which affected the heating system and injection supply. The suggested solution is to have the control unit checked and possibly replaced to restore normal vehicle function.

Hey, thanks for the tip! Good to hear that your car is running smoothly again. Can you remember how much it cost you to replace the control unit? And has anything similar happened again since then?

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! I paid €440 to have the parking heater control unit repaired. Since the visit to the workshop and the elimination of the message error between the control units, my car has been running like clockwork again - no more problems at all. I hope yours will work just as well!

That doesn't sound as terrible as I thought at first. 440 is quite a lot, but if my car runs smoothly again afterwards, I can live with it. Thanks for the encouraging words and the information. I'll take it to the garage tomorrow and hope it goes as well as you did. Thanks again, you've really helped me out!

Hello, I once had a similar problem with my 2014 Mercedes B-Class diesel. In my case, it turned out that the control unit for the parking heater was faulty. I know how stressful and worrying such situations can be, but don't worry about it for now. In my case, the workshop had to replace the control unit. It had a fault memory that could not be deleted and so the indicator light was constantly on. It's not a small problem, as it affects the entire heating system and influences the correct injection supply at speed and idling. It should be fixed as soon as possible. But don't worry, after the replacement was done, my car ran fine again. Wish you a speedy recovery for your car!
