Mercedes A Klasse Engine Power Loss and Check Engine Light
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Mercedes A Klasse is experiencing engine power loss and a check engine light, potentially due to issues with the throttle valve, either the accelerator pedal module or the throttle body. A faulty throttle body can indeed cause limp mode and rough idling. While a multimeter might help diagnose the problem, the complexity of the system suggests a professional evaluation is more effective. The issue was resolved with a throttle body replacement at a cost of 265€.

The engine idles a bit rough. I checked for air leaks but didn't see any. Can I figure out the exact problem without special tools? Would a multimeter help, or am I wasting time?

You could use a multimeter, but it's like trying to fix a computer with a screwdriver. These systems are complex. It sounds like the throttle body. I'd suggest a shop visit before you get stuck somewhere. They can figure it out and tell you the replacement cost.

Thanks for the advice. I'm taking it to the Mercedes service center. The final cost was 265€ for the throttle body replacement, including parts and labor. The problem is fixed.

That sounds right. A bad throttle body can cause those problems. It's like a clogged artery. Is the engine idling rough? Have you looked for air leaks in the intake?
