Thanks, that's helpful. Did you find out what the specific cause was and how you fixed it? Was it actually the purge valve?

Yes, the root cause was traced back to a malfunctioning purge valve, further exacerbated by compromised hoses within the EVAP system. While a quick look may reveal obvious problems, a comprehensive diagnostic assessment, potentially using specialized tools, is recommended to find the definitive cause. Given the complexities of the EVAP system and the potential for other issues, I strongly recommend taking your car to a qualified technician for a thorough evaluation.

Thanks a lot! I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out the tank ventilation valve malfunctioned, likely due to clogged hoses. A new valve and cleaning the hoses cost 175€. The check engine light is now off.

I have encountered a similar issue with my car, concerning the EVAP system and the check engine light. The symptoms you describe, notably the engine stalling at idle and the check engine light, indicate a potential malfunction within the EVAP system. Specifically, the purge valve, which regulates the flow of fuel vapor from the fuel tank to the engine, may be compromised. Examine the associated hoses for any signs of constriction, as a blockage can impede the proper ventilation of the fuel tank. If the fuel tank ventilation is impaired, it could trigger the check engine light and lead to engine stalling. I hope this helps.
