Mercedes A Klasse Headlight Range Problem

I'm having a headache with the lighting system on my 2009 Mercedes A Klasse diesel. The headlight range control seems to be acting up. I've got an error stored, plus a warning light on the dash. The low beams are either pointing way too low or too high. I'm guessing a defective servomotor in the headlight is the culprit. Anyone else run into this?

I had something similar happen on my A Klasse. The symptoms sound familiar. Check the electrical connectors going to the headlight control module first. Make sure they are clean and properly seated. Sometimes corrosion can cause weird issues with the adaptive headlights. It's like when your computer doesn't work and you just need to replug it.

Good call on the connectors. Where exactly is the headlight control module located? Is it directly attached to the headlight assembly or somewhere else?

On mine, it was part of the headlight assembly. So you would need to remove the headlight to get to it. If you're not comfortable doing that, then I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. The cost of fixing this lighting issue was around 1040€.

Thanks for the info! It was indeed the servomotor. After replacing it, the lighting system is working perfectly again. I appreciate your help!
