Mercedes A Klasse Hybrid Exhaust Flap Issue

I am experiencing an issue with my Mercedes A Klasse, build year 2020, hybrid engine, with approximately 40802 km. There appears to be a problem with the exhaust flaps. I have an error stored in the memory, and the exhaust noise is louder than usual. Furthermore, the engine sounds quite noisy after a cold start. I suspect a defective exhaust flap might be the cause. Could this be related to some exhaust blockage or other exhaust components? I am concerned about the exhaust repair and potential issues with the exhaust valves. I am anticipating a repair cost of around 190€. Has anyone encountered a similar situation?

I have a similar A Klasse, though I haven't checked the build year details recently. I did experience comparable symptoms some time ago. The louder exhaust noise and the error codes do sound familiar. Is the noise consistent, or does it fluctuate? Have you noticed any changes in fuel consumption or engine performance alongside the exhaust noise? It might also be worth checking the exhaust components for any visible damage or corrosion before assuming it is solely the exhaust flap.

Thank you for your response. The noise seems more pronounced during acceleration and after a cold start, then becomes somewhat consistent. I have not observed any significant changes in fuel consumption or engine performance. Could you elaborate on which exhaust components I should inspect specifically? I am not particularly experienced with exhaust repair, so any guidance would be appreciated.

While a visual inspection might reveal obvious issues like rust or a loose connection, diagnosing exhaust valves problems without proper tools can be tricky. Considering your symptoms and the stored error, the exhaust flap is still a strong possibility. Given the relatively low repair cost you anticipate, I would advise taking it to a workshop for a professional diagnosis. They can properly assess all exhaust components and confirm the source of the exhaust noise. It is better to be safe than sorry.

I appreciate your advice. I will schedule an appointment with a workshop to have the exhaust flaps and related components inspected. They confirmed it was indeed a defective exhaust flap, as suspected. The repair cost was almost exactly what I expected, so thank you for your insight.
