Mercedes A Klasse Hybrid Tire Pressure ABS and Steering Issues

I've visually inspected the tires for punctures and found none. I haven't done a diagnostic scan to assess the tire sensors. Could a single malfunctioning tire sensor induce the ABS activation and power steering difficulty? How could a tire sensor affect the power steering?

It's possible, though perhaps not directly. A significant pressure loss in one tire, even without a visible puncture, could trigger the ABS system, particularly during cornering or braking. The increased effort in steering might be related to the ABS intervention, or it could be a separate issue made worse by the tire pressure problem. In my case, with the Volvo, it was a defective valve causing slow pressure loss. I'd recommend having a workshop inspect the valve stems and sensors and perform a thorough diagnostic check. Do not delay a visit.

I took the vehicle to a mechanic, and the issue was a defective valve in one of the tires, resulting in gradual pressure loss. Replacing the valve, along with a sensor check, fixed the problem. The total cost was approximately 280€.

I had a similar issue with my Volvo, starting with a Tire Pressure warning and then the ABS light. I initially suspected a flat tire or a faulty tire sensor. Have you inspected the tires for punctures or damage? Even a small nail can cause slow pressure loss. Are you certain all tire sensors are functioning correctly? A diagnostic scan might reveal if one is sending incorrect readings. Has the steering issue always been concurrent with the pressure warning?
